Design a New Product
Our customer Beit Kessler asked us to design unique beds for their shelters. Beit Kessler houses handicapped residents who require special ceiling lift systems to lower them into their beds. I worked with 2 teammates and a mentor on the complete design process from defining requirements to creating a production/manufacturing file.
- 3 aspects to the problem were creating beds which could:
- 1. Sleep the maximum number of people in the space
- 2. Use the least amount of space during daytime
- 3. Comply with the ceiling lift system for moving residents into any bed at any time
o Final model contained over 800 parts
o GD&T on 85 custom manufacturing parts
o 7 concept designs 4 preliminary designs and 1 critical design
o Structural safety calculations and BSI standards adhered
o Material selection and manufacturing considerations
